Where is FALLOW Retreats?
We're in Vobster, a small hamlet between Frome and Mells in Somerset. The nearest town is Frome (about 10 minutes' drive), and the pretty village of Mells - home to The Talbot Inn and The Walled Garden at Mells - is about 5 minutes away. We're also very close to Babington House and Vobster Quay.
What accommodation do you offer?
We have two beautifully restored shepherd's huts - Fern and Willow - plus The Guesthouse, a refined two-bedroom cottage sleeping 4-6. Coming soon are Drift and Meadow (handcrafted Mongolian yurts) and Birch (a cabin among wildflowers and birch trees with a private wood-fired hot tub).
Can I stay near Babington House or Vobster Quay?
Yes - FALLOW Retreats is just 10 minutes from Babington House and 5 minutes from Vobster Quay, making us a convenient base if you're visiting either. We're also a great alternative if you're looking for accommodation near Babington House or a place to stay after swimming at Vobster Quay.
How far are you from Frome, Mells and local attractions?
Mells village is about 5 minutes by car, Frome is about 10 minutes, Babington House is about 10 minutes, and Vobster Quay is about 5 minutes. Longleat is roughly 25 minutes, Glastonbury is 35 minutes, and Bath is 45 minutes. You can see more in our local guide.
What's the minimum stay?
Most stays have a 2-night minimum, although we occasionally release single-night availability at a premium. Check the live calendar on each stay page for exact availability.
Are your stays dog friendly?
At the moment, we don't allow dogs in the shepherd's huts or guesthouse. This helps us keep the spaces calm and clean for all guests. We're reviewing this for future stays.
What's included in a stay?
Every stay includes linen bedding, a sleep spray, Bramley toiletries, Girls Who Grind coffee, organic teabags, bespoke handmade ceramics, a well-equipped kitchen or kitchenette, and access to the surrounding land. Fern also has a private wood-fired hot tub.
Can I add experiences to my booking?
Absolutely. We offer leisure bike rental, Ooni pizza nights, pre-heated wood-fired hot tubs, guided foraging walks, garden and cut flower tours, and Wild Joy adventure packs for children. You can arrange these when you book or during your stay.
How do I book?
You can book directly through our website. Choose your stay, select your dates on the live Smoobu calendar, and complete your reservation. Booking direct gives you the best rate and supports our small independent retreat.
Is FALLOW Retreats suitable for families?
Yes. The Guesthouse is ideal for families or groups of friends, sleeping 4-6. Children are welcome in all our stays, though our setting is close to nature with open land, water and fire features, so children must be supervised at all times.
